Svetlana and I have corresponded since April of this year. I posted a profile on an international marriage site on the Internet to which she responded. By the second letter I felt a bond and affinity with Svetlana. We soon exchanged addresses and telephone numbers. We sent each other family photos and began talking on the phone, in addition to the letters. By the sixth letter I knew I would have to meet her in person, and we began making plans for a shared holiday in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I spent August 2nd through 12th, 2002 in Almaty, Kazakhstan with Svetlana this year. For both of us it was the most exciting, romantic and memorable week of our lives. It was simply the most wonderful week in my life.
I arrived in Almaty very late on a Friday evening. I knew in the first 24 hours that I loved this woman totally, with all my heart and soul. I proposed to Svetlana Saturday evening after dinner, and she most happily accepted. I brought a ruby and diamond engagement ring, which Svetlana really loved. Amazingly, it fit her finger perfectly (IU had not asked her beforehand her ring size, as I wanted to surprise her).
While I was in Almaty, I had the opportunity to meet Svetlanads immediate family, with the exception of her father who was out of town on business. I especially enjoyed getting to know Svetlanas 13 old son Victor. We had the opportunity to spend a few hours together almost every day, and we like each other very much. Victor is very happy with pour plans, and is looking forward to coming to the United States.
I also got the opportunity to met Svetlanas mother Nina. She is a very sweet and sensitive woman. We felt immediate connection, probably because we love the same woman (although in different ways). Her mother has given us her blessing, although she will of course miss Svetlana and Victor, she is very happy for all of us. Additionally, I met her brother and sister, and their families. We got along very well, and, by the end of the week, I felt they had accepted me as part of the family.
The hardest part of the whole trip was leaving. I felt as if I have left a piece of myself in Almaty. Svetlana and I both feel that we were made for each other, that we are soul mates. I cannot wait (as she) for us to be together forever. We love each other very much, and it is our fervent wish to spend the rest of our lives together. Svetlana and David |
