Alina's profile was published in a marriage catalogue. Dale liked her in an instant and he was the first to write to her. They corresponded for 5 months, and he ended up coming to Moscow. He felt very attracted, however, she didn't. He went home, and both of them felt disappointed and empty.
However, Dale never gave up. He was ready to fight for his love and for his right to be happy with no one else but Alina. He wrote to her again and called her, and she replied. In a few months they made a decision to meet again, and now it was a completely different story. They met like old friends that know each other very well. They had "brought up" their feelings and realized they had what it takes to create a happy family.
Here is an extract from Alina's letter:
 "The overwhelming majority of Western men have a family instinct, a well-developed feeling of responsibility for their family and kids. They attribute a great importance to the profound relationships within the family - mutual support, trust, and respect. I had never encountered such a caring respect for my feelings and thoughts in Russia, with any other man.
"Me and Dale, we discuss everything, he described me our financial state in every detail, he taught me how to deal with checks and credit cards, he shares with me his plans for the nearest and far future, asks for my advice. We talk a lot, read together some books of famous psychologists about building successful and happy relationships within the family. He says it is typical for Western men.
"They are faithful and devoted in marriage, they truly believe in love. Family and kids are the top priority. Work also matters, but its main goal is providing for the family. All of this was a novelty for me, you know, with some exceptions Russian men are somewhat cynical, family does not appear to be such a value for them.
"I never regret my decision to marry a foreigner: every days brings new discoveries about my husband. Of course, at times there are some cultural misunderstandings, but we make a point of openly discussing even a minute feeling of discomfort in order to understand each other better. Now I can say for sure that we love each other. With time, as I got to know him better, I fell in love even more. What do you think about this, falling in love with your own husband? It is wonderful!
"Dale has a great relationship with Alesha, we bought him a lot of study books with videotapes, and he is making progress in English. He will soon be three and we will go to Disneyland. Right now we are looking for a suitable kindergarten for him, so, everything is settling down just fine. Dale has a computer at home, I explore different new programs and plan to start web designing; I also help him in his work, especially when it concerns Math, which is not his strong point.
